Affording home care
Ways to pay for home care in Pennsylvania
Medicaid and community health choice programs (CHCs)
While Medicare is limited for those over 65, Medicaid is available for those who need health care and assistance but without a set age limit. Home care can be arranged using CHCs and other Medicaid benefits.
VA benefits
Veterans are able to use their benefits for home care services, after qualifying based on the departmental guidelines.
Self-pay
Some long-term insurance companies can help cover our services and allow individuals to self-pay. You can also use health savings accounts (HSAs) and flexible spending accounts (FSAs) to pay contributions to ongoing home care.
Additional resources
We can also suggest external resources from other established organizations that touch on affording home care.
Tax breaks
For family caregivers who are able to claim their loved ones as a dependent, there are available tax breaks to reclaim some costs on their yearly taxes.
Arranging home care services
When it comes to paying your regular caregiver, the client or their family members will never pay caregivers directly. We bill weekly after service is provided, and typically accept direct deposits or credit cards as forms of payment.
Before formally beginning home care services, LifeGiver evaluates the costs of home care services per client and reviews them with you. We take into account any family input with our own estimations, plus any specific factors related to the caregiving situation. You can also change the hourly breakdown of care at any point.
Plan your free consultation
To give our best recommendations on home care services, we recommend setting up a free in-home consultation. We can discuss the general needs and concerns requiring care services, plus your financial plans to afford home care and payment options.
