Care for specialty groups
LifeGiver can accommodate care for groups of people with specific concerns relating to their living situations. At LifeGiver, we specialize in veteran care, hospice care, and special needs care.
Purpose of specialty care
Beyond managing a specific medical condition, these individuals are part of groups with specific needs and diverse experiences. There might be increased stress or particular behaviors that our caregivers will have to manage. Please note that these categories of care are still considered non-medical. We will always work with any existing medical care and practitioners for our clients: our place is to provide the care they deserve, and complement a fuller life at home.
Hospice care
When thinking about end-of-life care, a hospice facility might come to mind. For some individuals, hospice is able to be provided at home, and home care workers can act as an additional resource to keep the patient comfortable.
Home care services could include homemaking services to keep their living space tidy and free of chores, or personal care services to help the individual with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), providing outside help to their family caregivers.
Special needs care
Individuals with disabilities often have special needs that family members alone might struggle to meet on a full-time basis.
To maintain a high quality of life, our special needs caregivers can contribute to regular companionship, while providing supervision and help with daily activities as needed. Home care also helps with maintaining a routine and familiar comfort in their own living space.
We also can coordinate respite care that works with family members’ schedules: both the client and their family have peace of mind, and family caregivers get time to take care of other responsibilities.
Veteran care
Care from a home health aide can help veterans remain in their own home for longer. Our agency has a contract with the Departments of Veterans Affairs (VA) to offer home care to veterans, and can be used to complement other health or community services. We can serve veterans of any age, thanks to our relationship with the VA.
Home care services may be an alternative to nursing home care for veterans, or to better help family members take care of their loved one as a family caregiver. All of our service types are available for veterans to utilize, though we must operate within the VA qualification guidelines.
Roles in specialty care
By definition, cases of specialty care will relate directly to that client’s background and unique situation. We might suggest a particular combination of home care services for your loved one, or determine how a caregiver can accommodate their existing arrangements.
If you feel like your caregiving situation falls under one of these specialty categories, or potentially a different special circumstance, please reach out and we can discuss caregiving plans further.
