Traits of successful home care workers
The job outlook for caregiving roles is looking very positive: employment of home care aides is projected to grow 22% from now to 2032, much faster than the average for other occupations. We work with many thoughtful, responsible caregivers who do an excellent job at providing the care their clients deserve.
Friendly and approachable
A big trait of our caregivers is maintaining a welcoming, giving personality. One of the most rewarding benefits of home care work is developing a positive rapport with clients and forming genuine relationships with them.
Hands-on and responsible
Our clients depend on their caregivers not only for regular contact, but potentially for evaluating unexpected changes or emergencies. Caregivers are able to evaluate their clients' conditions, and whether medical intervention or family outreach is needed.
Respectful and patient
As with every job, some days may be more of a challenge than others. Caregivers act as a helpful resource to a client and their family: they operate with their client’s best interests in mind, and are used to encountering different moods.
Independent and autonomous
While our staff is available if any concerns arise, our caregivers work directly with their clients and don’t need to interact with a supervisor. This means our workers can maintain autonomy and often work flexible shifts that fit their own schedules.
Adaptable and accommodating
Our caregivers typically have set routines and schedules, but there may be times when adjustments are needed for a client’s wellbeing. Embracing a “go with the flow” mentality is a huge benefit to home care workers.
Detail-oriented and communicative
Productive caregivers are organized on their clients’ behalf: not only through tidying up or household tasks, but with important planning details as well. They often create schedules, emergency procedures, or personal information notes to share with us, their clients, and their families.
Requirements for caregiving jobs
Besides the above characteristics, we require that our caregivers are able to commute to our counties of operation (Bucks County, Chester County, Delaware County, Montgomery County, and Philadelphia County.) They must have reliable transportation to their regular shifts. We also require that applicants go through an extensive background check as part of their qualification review. Lastly, caregivers must have access to a smartphone with app capabilities to clock in to their shifts.
Our caregiving roles do not require specific work experience and will receive on-the-job training. We will go over additional role-specific requirements during the interview process.
Family caregiving arrangements
If you’re someone who’s interested in acting as a caregiver for a family member, we can review that process with you.
