Companionship home care services
Companion care involves services and assistance for individuals to remain comfortably in their own homes. As they age, certain tasks may become more demanding or difficult over time, or even become dangerous. In this stage, the individual may need some occasional help or require regular extra care to maintain their standards of living. These people are then able to stay at home and continue to live on their own, with their safety and peace of mind intact.
Purpose of companionship
If you or a loved one are noticing a change in general mobility or daily living, companionship care could be a great fit. This is also a convenient, lowkey way to allow older adults to age in place, without the worry of taking on anything too strenuous. Regular visits let family and friends know that their loved one gets frequent check-ins, and are engaged during those visits.
Companionship care also allows for the clients to meet with friendly, warm caregivers who are interested in spending time with them. Consistent social interaction can give both physical and mental health benefits, especially for later-in-life clients.
This is not considered advanced caregiving: rather, it’s more regular task-related care. Companionship care does also not involve hygienic or medical-based care. For situations where that may be required, please read about our personal care services.
Roles in companionship service
The goal of companionship care is to make day-to-day tasks and activities manageable and safe for the individual. They may require someone to do things on their behalf, such as running errands if they themselves do not drive, or handling typical household chores. Other responsibilities may fall to the social side, ensuring that the person is kept stimulated and entertained.
Our caregivers are equipped to handle these regular duties, such as:
Transportation
Time outside
Household chores
Conversation and entertainment
Personal interaction
